Join the Hippo and 33 eateries for the first annual Hippo de Mayo
Taco Challenge.
Each restaurant will be creating its own taco—and these aren’t all your typical tacos. How does a Transylvanian taco sound? And you get to vote
for your favorites.
$2,000 will go to the winner’s
charity of choice.

World’s biggest taco tour planned for downtown Manchester
Manchester, New Hampshire, will be home to the
world’s largest—and perhaps only—taco tour
Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 5 to 9 p.m. This Cinco de Mayo celebration will feature more than 34 different kinds of tacos all sold for $2 each at restaurants throughout Manchester’s downtown area.
Taco tourists will navigate their way through the Manchester’s downtown tasting a variety of reinventions
of the taco. Restaurants are planning interesting takes on the taco—from traditional Mexican-style tacos to a Transylvanian dessert taco and a Greek taco made with
flat bread and tzatziki. The taco is the perfect canvas
for Manchester’s creative eateries to display their
culinary skills.
Taco tourists will be able to vote for their favorite take on the taco by cell phone. The most popular taco will win a local charity $2,000. Maps will be available online, in the Hippo, in local restaurants and on facebook. Keep in mind, there are no tickets to purchase. Just head to downtown Manchester on May 5 with money for tacos and room in your stomach.
If taco tourists still have room after tasting all those tacos, participating restaurants also will feature special
