Trick or Treat – Halloween Parties in NH
Blackout in Nashua | Stabbing in Manchester
Knowing that the Halloween weekend would come with it plenty of surprises, many local establishments took the time to talk about the potential pitfalls of a holiday party; many people may tend to pre-game or over do it and many of these people are those that go out but a few times a year for events like Halloween, Night before Thanksgiving and New Years Eve. The head of security at nightlife establishments should make it a point for their staff to stay extra alert and pay very close attention to the crowd and patrons to ensure their safety. Most places do take these measures but even so sometimes things can and do happen.
In Nashua, at the new Restaurant and Nightlife venue Junkyard they were met with an unusual set of circumstances: Saturday night was the scheduled Halloween Costume Party with $1000 cash on the line. The venues VIP tables were all sold out and despite the impending storm there were no cancellations. Mother Nature decided to intervene and hit the area with a monster of a storm which put power out a little after 9pm. The power never came back on, many of the patrons decided to stay and make the most of a bad situation and with music supplied by one battery operated speaker and emergency lighting the night raged on! Everyone who stayed had a great time and vowed to return the following Saturday for the Halloween party and compete for the $1000 cash! Even in an adverse situation like this the experienced staff and security staff at Junkyard were able to ensure a safe and good time for everyone.
Heading north about 20 minutes the story on Friday night was quite different. Drynk ( formerly WB’s) was holding a Friday Night Halloween Party that got out of hand. Manchester Police officers responded to a fistfight at Drynk, 20 Old Granite Street, a little after 1am Saturday morning and found a man outside in a rear patio area called Ivy, he had been stabbed in his lower back area.
Drynk seems to be finding itself in the headlines in October. In Mid October, nightclub owner Thomas Svoleantopoulos was cited for violating a city ordinance preventing the discharging of fireworks. When police say they caught his employees setting off fireworks on the roof, while hundreds of people were inside the building
Police say just after midnight on Sunday October 17, an officer found several employees at Drynk setting off fireworks in an alley and on the roof of the club.
The officer reported that the container full of fireworks tipped over and sent “small burning projectiles” onto the wooden roof.
The fireworks left visible burn marks in several areas of the roof.
The club was filled with over 400 patrons at the time of this incident.
The club owner, 38-year-old Thomas Svoleantopoulos was summoned to court violating a city ordinance that prohibits discharging of fireworks. Looks like Drynk is spiraling a bit out of control after a successful opening.
Until Drynk straightens out whatever growing pains they are experiencing no longer can patrons feel that umbrella of safety they were assured when it was WB’s.
July 2011:
It will be interesting to see what the new ownership and investment partners have in store at DrYnk; if the name is any indication of the theme we can expect an experienced expert bar staff mixing up and muddling original cocktails. There are a number of familiar faces already in the mix from Drynks previous incarnation as Wally and Bernie’s ( aka WB’s). The GM / Managing Partner is Thomas Svoleantopoulos of Leadergate Realty ( a WB’s manager – aka Tommy Gunn), Chef Shawn ( last seen at Amsterdam in Nashua) is back as Kitchen Manager and Exec Chef, Lisa is Wait Staff Manager and early WB pioneer Bartender Eric ( last seen at Martha’s Exchange in Nashua) is now Bar Manager. Local go to Promoters Danny D and Josh Porter are also on board as is ace security expert T.C. Rearick A sprucing up of the interior, sound and lights are all in the works as is an update to the outdoor area and the addition of two more pool tables. Still billed as a restaurant and late night lounge the venue promises to never charge a cover. We have heard plans of a mid week night geared to the Latin community and an extended happy hour every Friday for $10…Entertainment will be provided by various DJ’s. I for one am Looking forward to some of that great cooking from Chef Shawn!
Looks Like NH Nightlife just got a lot better!!
Hmmmmm that lettering / font and coloring sure looks just like Wally and Bernies…thoughts?

Well I went to this place nuthin special. Just another club in Manchester
I have been around to a lot of places from NH to mass The Security is bad
People could get hurt it seems to be a party hang outset for guys
That just know each other. I see them having problems in the
Future every club usually does not a big winner
DO NOT INDULGE HERE. THIS PLACE IS DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR MONEY. They don’t let anyone in past 1 AM. My best friend got married up here, was in Drynks for 2 hours, went to look for my boyfriend, and when I returned, to make sure my best friend had a ride, I walked in after 1, apx 1:05 and got assaulted by the bouncer, was gripped up by the arm and pushed from the chest, right out the door. Bruises on my arm and chest. I was not causing any problems, just making sure my best friend would be able to get home safely. Anyone that “grips” me up does not deserve to have a job. There was no reason to treat a woman like that. I will never visit this place again, nor recommend to anyone.
FK THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!! I tried to go back in to meet with my friends and girlfriend after I stepped out to take my girlfriends purse to the car. They refused to let me in trying to claim that it was too late (1 AM), I should call her, and my girlfriend couldn’t possibly be in there without a phone. She has not had a cell phone for 4 months. They forcefully pushed me away from the rope and then let 3 girls and 2 guys into the bar. WTF. WHY WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A PLACE THAT TREATS PEOPLE LIKE THIS???

Time does this place stay open til?
So many people had told me that Drynk was racist, and I did not want to believe it. Until I experienced it myself. My friend and I were not let in n humiliated in front of tons of people for not having a credit card an, n not having a valid id. WTF but everyone else (light skin, blonde hair and blue eyed) were let in, when the bouncer barely looked at their ids! He also denied to give us our ids, until my white friend came out, n said she would talk to the owner….I was also told that the bartenders charge what they feel like charging for drinks…plain and simple don’t go to this place, where customers are treated like s#!&….
Nice atmosphere, but the food is terrible.
@Victim of Racism….you werent let in a club because you didnt have a valid ID? Well…THATS STATE LAW. Ignorance is no excuse. Black, White, Green, Yellow…no valid ID, NO ENTRY. Goes for anywhere else you go, or you are BREAKING THE LAW, and risking the venues liquor licence. Poor you.
And for everyone elses information, ive gone there and had the same problem of getting back in the building past 1:00am. They shut the doors at 12:45, and who they decide to let back in is at their discretion. Also, their right by law.
So before you go around slandering a place because you were most likely blitz drunk and denied re-entry, sit back and analyze yourself.
Same old management, same old story, doormen were told at WB also to find any way possible to keep out people who “did not fit in”….not surprised…
This place definetley picks and choose people who they let in. There post for a security position says mma fighters preferred like Drynk and manchester is some crazy club atmosphere. The owner Tommy is making a bad name for himself and it will come back to bite him in the future. He will see
Well people….I’m gonna apply for a dj job there and I will let you know how it goes. I have 20 years experience, I spin all genres of music, I have a mature following that spends money and likes to party, I dj on 2 radio stations plus an internet station.
I Love Drynk!!! It’s amazing! & Us ladies are always looking fine as ever!
Going to drynk this Friday! Cant Wait! I dont care what people say It’s one of my favorite places.
Makes no sense to me how a once awesome place could get so bad so fast. With safety and issue and real concern along with aggressive bouncers it really can’t be too long till something worse happens. Been there a few times we saw good and bad. Feel much more safe with that place Grand down the street.
I am new to the area and would like to venture off into the newhampshire nite life…I am coming from FT.lauderdale FL. so i am sure there is a BIG difference….
Drynk will be out of business in another month…tops. Since the owner is under Federal Indictment on HEAVY drug charges, it won’t be long now…
well–i’ve never been to drynk, i’ve heard it was such a fun place..BUT..i read on here a lot of bad reviews, UGH — i was planning on going for my 22nd birthday, now i’m a bit unsure! :/
